IDEX Medical is a newly created business unit designed to bring together a wide array of capabilities which have in the past been provided by several independent entities, all of whom have an excellent established track record in development and manufacturing of medical device components: Upchurch Medical, Eastern Plastics, and Sapphire Engineering. All are part of IDEX Corporation, a $1.2 billion publicly traded corporation.
IDEX Medical is your single stop for a wide array of medical device development and manufacturing projects for implant and instrument applications. We offer machining, molding, extrusion, assembly, and secondary operations from our ISO 13485 certified, cleanroom-equipped facilities in Oak Harbor, Washington, and Bristol, Connecticut.
IDEX Medical is the only company in the world to offer the full range of processing options with PEEK and other high-performance plastics. We are the largest and oldest plastics machining company in the world, with 47 years of experience as a processor of plastic components. Our customers include the largest companies in the medical device industry.
IDEX Medical is a leader in processing of ultrahard materials such as sapphire, ruby, and ceramics — including alumina and zirconia variants.

Idex Medical offers precision machining services for medical components. We machine components from high performance thermoplastic materials and medical grade metals. Our multiple axis turning machines have milling, turning, drilling, cutting and finishing capabilities. We are able to drill holes as small as 0.005" in some polymers and 0.010" in stainless steel. Other services include precision deburring and cleaning processes.

Idex Medical is the medical device manufacturer's first choice for machined plastic parts and assemblies that perform predictably, consistently, and at the lowest total cost.

With expertise honed for more than a century, Idex Medical has become the world expert in processing ultrahard materials such as sapphire, ruby, and ceramics — including alumina and zirconia variants. We hold tolerances as small as 0.00001” in these materials and surface finishes down to 0.25 microinch (Ra).
