VIASYS Healthcare Receives #1 Rating For Electroencephalograph Systems

VIASYS Healthcare Inc.'s (NYSE:VAS) NeuroCare Group, a leading developer of neurophysiologic diagnostic and monitoring products, has received the #1 company ranking for its Electroencephalograph (EEG) systems and services according to MD Buyline, a leading independent healthcare research company. The ranking, which is primarily based on user interviews and satisfaction scores, was published in a recent MD Buyline Market Progress Report.

"These top scores from our customers are a direct result of VIASYS Healthcare's commitment to providing quality healthcare instruments," said Lori Cross, VIASYS NeuroCare Group President. "We are proud of our market-leading technologies, services and products portfolio."

According to MD Buyline, EEG technology is currently in a replacement market due to hospitals transitioning from first generation, conventional analog EEG systems to the next generation of multimodality, digital EEG systems for the cost saving efficiencies of digital, advanced clinical applications as well as improved networking capabilities.

VIASYS Healthcare's new NicoletOne(TM) multimodality, digital EEG system helped the company take top honors in the recent MD Buyline study. "Digital technology provides a more efficient platform for data flow and integration," wrote Kathy Leibold, MD Buyline Analyst. "Consequently, PCs are expected to do more and companies are using EEG units as a foundation and are adding electromyopathy/evoked potential (EMG/EP) and sleep analysis software to produce a more flexible, multi-function diagnostic instrument."

In addition to performing traditional EEG studies, the NicoletOne allows medical professionals to perform EMG/EP, ICU monitoring as well as sleep and Long Term Monitoring studies. "Multimodality systems increase cost-effectiveness through greater utilization and a higher number of reimbursable procedures performed by one unit. Hospitals are demanding the more cost-effective multimodality units," concluded Leibold.

Along with the company's top ranking in EEG, VIASYS Healthcare was ranked among the top EMG/EP providers in a separate MD Buyline report. The user satisfaction criteria categories for MD Buyline Progress Reports are system performance, reliability, installation and implementation, applications training, service response time, and service repair quality.

"VIASYS people and technologies continue to help our customers provide better healthcare outcomes for their patients everyday. VIASYS Healthcare's top rankings in EEG illustrate our desire to achieve the most demanding levels of product performance, customer service and satisfaction," added Cross.
